One of the oldest cities in the extreme south of Croatia. Dubrovnik is one of the most prominent and beautiful places to visit in the Mediterranean. It has been nicknamed the “Pearl of the Adriatic” and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. George Bernard Shaw once wrote: “those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik and find it” and as such royalty, presidents and diplomats from across the world have all come to stay in the city. Out of the 18 top luxury hotels in Croatia, 11 are located in Dubrovnik.
Split is located in Central Dalmatia. The city was originally built around the Diocletian palace (a fortress palace built for the retired Roman emperor Diocletian) where the locals sought refuge centuries ago. It is one of the Adriatic’s liveliest and most alluring cities. There is no denying that the city of Split has a stunning setting, with sheer mountains in one side and the Adriatic on the other.
The capital of Croatia boasts a charming medieval old city with architecture and cobbled streets reminiscent of Vienna, Budapest, Prague and other Central European cities, though mixed with a strong Italian influence. Zagreb has the youngest population in Europe.
